West Tacoma Surgery Center West Tacoma Surgery Center is an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This is an official operating room environment. The surgery center is required to meet or exceed federal and state guidelines and had to pass inspection sanctioned by Medicare. Patients who are brought into this environment are guaranteed that we are caring for them at the highest standard of care available. Procedures that are not provided in an approved ASC or hospital environment may not be as safe, sterile or well staffed; nor are such procedures monitored by any state and federal agency. At our facility you will receive the highest and safest standard of care available in both the operating room and recovery room. The medications are further supervised by a licensed pharmacist. We are also able to provide sedation safely. Patient satisfaction survey is uniformly rated in the highest category. West Tacoma Surgery Center specializes in procedures for pain treatment and diagnosis. For examples of these procedures click "Procedures" on the left. The center is conveniently located in the James Center Plaza professional building on the first floor adjacent to advance pain medicine physicians' offices. The surgery center is a separate business from the physician services business. The surgery center will generate its own bill. This is much like when you do to a hospital, and receive both a hospital bill and a physician bill. In addition to standard operating room fees, additional charges for medications and certain supplies and radiology equipment use will appear on the bill. This assures that we can use of the best equipment for our patients, often exceeding the quality available in hospitals. West Tacoma Surgery Center currently accepts the contract rates of L&I and Medicare. Patients with other insurance will likely have significant co-pay. Our efforts to secure reasonable contractual reimbursements from private insurers were met with unwillingness by the insurers to negotiate.
